Thanks A Million Dr. McClain!
The Pershing Scholarship Program’s 40th Anniversary gave us the opportunity to honor and express our gratitude to its founder, Truman State University President Emeritus, Dr. Charles J. McClain. His leadership and vision made this program possible, affecting the lives of countless past and future Truman students. For this and a million reasons more, we say, “Thank you, Dr. McClain!”
Through the generosity of alumni and friends, our goal is to raise $1,000,000 or more in honor of Dr. McClain. Avenues of support include outright cash donations, pledges (making a gift commitment over two to five years) and planned gifts or estate commitments. Donors have the option of supporting three different scholarship funds within this initiative:
- General John J. Pershing Scholarship Endowment
Once the gift total received by this endowment reaches a level where it will provide sustainable support to one in-state Pershing Scholar, a current member of the Pershing Society will be selected on an annual basis to receive the honor of being named the McClain Pershing Scholar. In addition to receiving the honor of this designation, the recipient will have the privilege of knowing that their Pershing Scholarship is fully funded for that given year through the generosity of donors to the Truman State University Foundation, rather than the University’s operational funds.
